Happy Number Two

Jackson buddy, yesterday you turned two years old and we celebrated your birthday with your first trip to Hogle zoo. Even though I’ve been insanely busy at work finishing up the Hope Garden, I demanded a day off to spend it with you and mom. We dropped Eli off with Grandma and Grandpa and you cried when we left “Papa’s” house without getting out of the car. You’ve never been to the zoo, so it didn’t matter how many times I told you that is where we were going.

You were so giddy as a Spider Monkey was swinging from his tail and making funny noises as it looked you in the eyes. The baby Orangutan was so cute and you kept pointing to him and saying “baby”. You’re other favorites were the Penguins, Zebras, Turtles and Lizards. Your reaction from all these animals in real life for the first time was awesome.

We got home in the 90 degree heat to find our air conditioner had gone out and left the house at 85 degrees – and we guests arriving in 2 hours for your party. I tried my best to fix the box outside, but I could only kick it so many times without my shoes on. Mom called the installers company and thankfully they had a guy in the neighborhood who could fix it in 30 minutes for a flat fee of $80. Apparently they fix these junkers all day long out here in Herriman – but any price was very much worth it after spending the day in the sun – especially with two 80 year olds coming to visit.

You received many great gifts and I can tell you love them all. I got you a miniature ESPN basketball hoop and you can make lay-ups on the lowest height. You cheer every time.

You grow up so fast, everyday you say new words and do things that truly amaze me. Thanks for being my son.

I love you.
Dad
