Flickr Poster
I ordered a poster from Flickr’s new printing service, QOOP, including all the photos I have posted to my flickr account. It cost $9.99 + around $5 for shipping, which is not too bad. I’m sure it would cost about that much if I took the time to create one myself and had it printed at the store, sans shipping.
It was kind of a lot of photos to fit on one poster since it’s only 13.5” x 19”, for some reason I thought it would be about twice that size. So the quality of the little thumbnails is not super sharp. I would recommend maxing out at 50-60 photos, mine was 220 – but it is cool to see everything I’ve posted on one sheet.
I’ve ordered some prints straight from Flickr also and it’s a really smooth service, and I’d like to order a book and see how those turn out. But for my next poster, I want to go much bigger and I’ll probably end up creating the file myself in photoshop.
Mike Matas has posted instructions on creating a “Life Poster” with simple steps in iPhoto and Kodak printing service. It ends up costing about $29 with shipping and it’s a nice big 20” x 30” size.
